The View

What I see is that monument which brings out the memories, because I survived the war. It is a pity that I don't have a strength to go and visit because kids went there and told me it is very nice, but I watch only from the outside, because I don't have a strength, right, to go and see it. But because they come and see it, it means they remember. And this memory is very important, right

When I came here, there was absolutely nothing, just tons of rabbles after the ghetto, not even a building. There was just a church – evangelic one. Near from the ghetto, not inside, I remember I saw standing German solider, Polish policeman and Jewish policeman. But Jewish policeman just had a stick and stand in the ghetto. It was forbidden, even for them, to leave the ghetto. Jewish policemen treated other Jews really badly. They thought that they will survive but they miscalculated. Like others they went to Treblinka. But… if we are talking just about the surrounding, it is a great job with all new plants and trees. Although the building…I don’t really know what is that. Is it a house? Is it a hut? Or is it a bunker?! I don’t know what I really see.The building doesn’t fit here. There should be some windows.

I had a chance to see the whole process of constructing the Museum of the History of Polish Jews. I mean the building of the museum - from digging first holes and setting first bars. I live on the fourth floor so I saw everything very clearly. With a great pleasure from time to time I took photos and saw how building is growing.

Surrounding of that building is really nice. A park and benches are really nice. There is also some monument and some boards… It’s interesting and environment is harmonious.

A park is even well renovated, so a view is quite nice – except unbearable tourist groups and coaches which don’t turn off engines. Tragedy!

I don't like it, because as far as I know, there use to be a park, so the view from the window was to the park and the greenery. At the moment, in front of the window, there is a wall. I understand that the monument and the museum have to have a place, but there are other where the inhabitants wouldn't mind.

As I can see it, it is prettier now. It was a little bit abandoned, not amusing. Yet it is much prettier now and it is nice to go there and meet from time to time, sit, a lot of couples, in the evenings, because there are growing high bushes, so there will be a place for them at last.
